Jumbo Lobster Lamp is a one-of-a-kind monumental floor lamp from Christopher Tennant's first solo art exhibition at the Vanderbilt Museum in Long Island; New York; inspired by the tastes and eccentricities of globetrotting amateur naturalist and Jazz-Age aesthete William Willie the K Vanderbilt. It features an oil-paper shade constructed from a vintage souvenir parasol with Shakespearean aphorisms produced by the Hiroshima corporation of Japan in the early 20th century. An expertly preserved specimen Maine lobster—a nod to Salvador Dali’s 1938 sensation;Lobster Phone—completes the surrealist vibe.
